The Taitung County Government and the Taiwan Design Center (TDC) held a press conference today (March 13th) at “Not Just Library” in SongYanCourt. With Jang-Hwa Leu — the Director General of the Industrial Development Bureau under the Ministry of Economic Affairs — as witness, Taitung County Government, Qing-Ling Rao, and the Taiwan Design Center Chairman, Chi-Yi Chang, signed a Letter of Cooperation.
Beginning in March, Taiwanese innovation will move three highly acclaimed design exhibitions — Intuition, Circular Design, and Black and Blue Cosmos — to the Taitung Design Center. Meanwhile, the two parties will exchange resources by holding design discussions, courses, and industry workshops, infusing artistic nourishment into Taitung daily life. This represents an important milestone in cooperation between TDC and local governments.

The Taiwan Design Center (TDC) is in the process of transforming into a design and research institution, with the hopes of consolidating the local cultural resources of all different areas to create an ecosystem fueled by innovation and design — while also encouraging local governments to support the effort. Taitung County Government is TDC’s first partner; they will work together to enrich Taitung’s charm and strengthen ties through exhibition exchange, art education, and industrial cooperation.
Intuition
An independent exhibition by cutting-edge Taiwanese designer, Jay Guan Jie Peng, extracted the essence of artistic work spanning over decades and enriched it with pure visual design. His creation adds an extra dimension to flat graphic design in an attempt to take advantage of the reflexive, immediate nature of human intuition — allowing visitors to reconnect with their senses through sensory experience.

Circular Design – Are you In-Circled?
Circular designers used the question “Are you In-Circled?” to ignite conversation between industry, designers, and consumers — encouraging exhibition participates to “incircle” the topic. The exhibition took inventory of all Taiwanese industries offering services related to circular design and presented a list of innovative services and products that consider consumer behavior from the standpoint of sustainability — creating a better future for the next generation.

Black and Blue Cosmos Exhibition
Black and Blue Cosmos offers many different interpretations, depending on the viewer’s perspective. The black and blue forms symbolize the marks that daily conflict and setbacks leave behind, paying tribute to the realities of daily life. In terms of technique, Black and Blue Cosmos adds an extra dimension of visibility, extending beyond mere 2-D and 3-D visualization with art that exists in both the tangible and the visual — conveying different visual languages via different mediums.
