Taiwan Design Week 2025: Imagining What’s Next in Design

The third edition of Taiwan Design Week (TDW) takes place from 29 November to 7 December 2025 at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei, under the theme “Design Next.”

This year, TDW looks at how design is changing—from focusing on the individual to caring for humanity and even the planet.

Beyond its world-renowned semiconductor and technology industries, Taiwan is looking to explore the future potential of design. This forward-looking exploration will be highlighted by the IASDR 2025 (International Association of Societies of Design Research) conference, one of the world’s most influential conferences on design research, which will be held in conjunction with TDW. It gathers international scholars and practitioners to investigate humanity-centred design, AI collaboration, and digital environments, while addressing pressing global issues such as health, ageing, and sustainability through cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Highlight speakers include renowned design visionary Don Norman, Professor Stephan Wensveen of Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, and IASDR President Peter Lloyd—leading voices shaping the future of design.

Complementing the academic focus, TDW 2025 presents a diverse lineup of events that showcase Taiwan’s strength in design-led innovation. Highlights include:

  • Golden Pin Design Exhibition and Award Ceremony – presenting award-winning works across industries

Since its establishment in 1981, the Golden Pin Design Award has stood as the most influential design accolade in the global Huaren market. Organized by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), the award ceremony and its series of events celebrate excellence across industries, from product and communication design to spatial and integrated design.

The exhibition presents a curated selection of award-winning works, offering the public and industry professionals a unique opportunity to experience how design drives innovation, reflects cultural identity, and shapes a sustainable future.

  • Taiwan–Czech Design Forum – facilitating exchanges between European and Asian design communities

Eastern European design is actively forging connections with Asia. Following TDW 2024’s collaboration with Poland, TDW 2025 partners with the Czech Centre Taipei (established in 2024) to create a platform for bilateral design and cultural exchange. The initiative strengthens dialogue between European and Asian design communities, fostering collaboration, mutual inspiration, and shared innovation. As part of the programme, Czech designers in sustainable fashion will showcase their work, highlighting new possibilities in cross-cultural creativity and sustainability.

  • Industry Tour – curated industry visits exploring design’s impact on real-world applications

Taiwan is internationally recognised for its strengths in technology and sustainable systems. Across industries, leading corporations are integrating advanced technology with sustainable practices, while design plays a crucial role in translating these innovations into meaningful products, services, and user experiences. This year’s Industry Tour will not only take participants to visit renowned Taiwanese brands, but also highlight public service design initiatives that demonstrate how design thinking is applied to improve social systems, enhance citizen experiences, and drive sustainable development. Together, these visits showcase how technology, sustainability, and design are shaping industries, public services, and society with tangible impact.

  • Gala Dinner — An Immersive Night of Creativity

The Gala Dinner offers an evening of creative networking infused with Taiwanese flavours, art, ecology, and digital technology. This year’s highlight will be a spectacular digital immersive installation by a leading Taiwanese media artist, transforming the night into a multi-sensory experience that celebrates innovation and culture in one unforgettable setting.

By bridging research, industry, and culture, TDW 2025 continues to position Taiwan as a leading design hub in Asia and beyond.
