2025 Summer Internship Program Now Open for Applications!

Applications for the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) 2025 Summer Internship Program are now open!

 

We welcome students from domestic and international colleges and universities to experience workplace life, explore future directions, gain self-awareness, and develop career plans. Join us and ignite your passion for design research.

 

TDRI offers a diverse range of internship opportunities with learning and development support from assigned mentors (based on project requirements. Interns may also participate in interdisciplinary internship projects in collaboration with TDRI and other enterprises.

 


 

●Eligibility:

Students currently enrolled in undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral programs at colleges and universities in Taiwan or abroad.(Only current students are eligible to apply; recent graduates are not accepted.)

 

●Internship Details and Regulations:

  1. Number of Interns: Approximately 29–32 interns will be recruited.
  2. Internship Categories:

(1)Design Research Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities:

 

a. Design Research & Development Section: 

Development of design thinking tools, planning and organizing workshops on emerging technology applications, conducting interviews on industry innovation design needs, and participating in the development and testing of digital design tools. 

 

b. Strategic Foresight Research & Development Section:

(a) Conduct literature and case study analysis related to urban governance, co-creation of public values, and institutional operations. Compile focus group interview data and participate in the preliminary evaluation and development of participatory tools.

 

(b) Conduct industry demand research, analyze relevant literature and case studies, transform research data into operational tools, and assist in the preparation and organization of workshops.

 

(c) Conduct urban indicator research, be familiar with usability testing, and assist with video editing and instructional materials. 

 

 

(2) Industry Guidance Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities: 

 

a. International Development Section:

Taiwan Creative Expo: Coordinating schedules and matchmaking for exhibitors, providing services for international buyers, and supporting exhibitors. 

 

b. Industry & Innovation Section:

Business district support programs, interdisciplinary projects, industry-academia collaboration, and platform mentorship. c. Industry Foresight Section: Sustainable design, circular design, low-carbon packaging, ESG, SDGs, smart cities, service design, UX/UI, AI-driven design. d. Branding & Promotion Section: Supporting Golden Pin Design Award jury meetings and Taiwan Creative Expo marketing initiatives. e. Planning Section: Assisting in IDDI community marketing and social media posts, conducting interviews for "People Insight", participating in mid-term evaluations, observation recordings, and writing exhibition-related promotional materials. (Internship Location: TDRI Xinyi Office, 3rd Floor, No. 41, Section 3, Xinyi Road, Da’an District, Taipei, Taiwan)

 

 

(3) Public Service Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities:

 

a. Public Service Section: 

Public service project research and planning, design verification.

 

b. Humanities Innovation Section:

Research and data analysis for public space projects, city aesthetics project promotion and event planning, preparation and execution of project results presentations.

 

c. Local Innovation Section:

Taiwan Design Expo community marketing, research for the 2027 Taiwan Design Expo host city, T22 community marketing planning and Fifth Place research. d. Operation & Promotion Section:

(a) Exhibition Hall Operations and Event Support (venue maintenance, professional guided tours, children’s design summer camp, etc.).

 

(b) Social Media Marketing and Event Planning (Exhibition promotion and planning for the Academic Achievement Exhibition, International Czech Book Fair, etc.). 

 

(c) Event Preparation and On-site Execution (Children’s design summer camp, Creative Expo preparation, live event documentation, etc.). 

 

(d) Survey Analysis and Exhibition Marketing (Red Dot Design Exhibition, Taipei Design Award Exhibition, Taiwan Design Week, Golden Pin Design Exhibition). e.Spatial Design Team: Assisting in the execution of projects related to the Taiwan Cultural Expo curation, as well as projects for the Maritime and Port Bureau and the Judicial Yuan. 

 

 

(4) Community & Media Relations Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities:

 

a. Administration Section: 

Video editing (especially familiar with Reels format or other short-form videos),Social media marketing, online community management, creative content ideation, copywriting, and graphic design. Participate in all TDRI media activities and transform materials into marketing content. Your creative works will be featured on TDRI’s Facebook and Instagram!

●Internship Duration:

July 1, 2025 – August 31, 2025 (Full two-month internship), work hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The internship duration may be extended based on departmental needs and intern availability (e.g., research projects, thesis work). 

 

 

●Internship Allowance & Insurance:( subject to labor insurance deductions, if applicable)

    1. Undergraduate students: NT$29,000 per month
    2. Master’s students: NT$35,000 per month
    3. Doctoral students: NT$39,000 per month 

 

 

●Application Process:

    1. Application Deadline: April 23, 2025 (Wednesday) (subject to change depending on application volume).
    2. Application Method: Please submit your resume on TDRI's webpage on 104 Corporation’s website, including:
      (1) Personal photo.
      (2) Autobiography, please indicate the following at the beginning of the statement: a. My current academic year: Undergraduate ○ year / Master's ○ year / Doctoral ○ year. b. Ability to participate in the full internship: "Yes" or "No." c. Available internship period: July ○, 2025, to August ○, 2025.
      (3) Portfolio (no restrictions on the number of pages or format).
      (4) Student ID or proof of enrollment (must be enrolled during the internship period, applications without relevant proof will not be accepted).
      (5) If you are an international student, please attach a copy of your passport, Resident Certificate, and personal work permit issued by the Ministry of Labor, Republic of China (Taiwan).
    3. Interview Notification: Shortlisted candidates will be notified for an online interview (Scheduled for mid-May 2025).
    4. Placement & Notification: Selected candidates will be assigned to departments based on their preferences and TDRI’s needs. Foreign students may require additional legal documentation for approval. 

 

 

●Internship Period & Regulations:

    1. Internship period: July 1, 2025 – August 31, 2025, with flexibility for extensions based on department/intern needs.
    2. Interns must submit a final internship report at least 10 days before completing their internship and publish it on YouTube, Medium, or Matters (choose one).
    3. Attendance is mandatory. Unexcused absences are not permitted.
    4. If an intern needs to terminate the internship early, they must formally submit a request to TDRI.
